that's a word me and my husband have been dreading to hear. simply to lift our butts and go workout. sounds easy, eh? not if you wake up at 6 a.m. and go home around 6 p.m. i know, no excuses allowed here since we have a couple of machines at home that can aid us in making this simple enough for us.

anyway, i'd like to share this new reality tv show about working out with jackie, a trainer/gym owner based in l.a., who works with major beverly hills/hollywood figures to achieve that hot fit body. jackie's form is the body i'd like to have. her abs are to-die for, her arms super-toned. it's full of beautiful people hugging the limelight, if they're lucky. the show's story is pointless but still drama-packed. as the caption goes, 3 % body fat 97 % drama.

so, until i climb on my elliptical again - there's no 3 % body fat my way. i do agree though, that my life's full of drama.

workout, tuesday nights at bravo channel.

texas no-tax weekend

in the attempts to save back-to-school shopping money, the annual no-tax weekend is here starting tomorrow until sunday. i have been eyeing a few items i think i'll get, like this paul and joe for target kimono dress in teal which i adore. i already got the black one but of course everyone is bored with black and all the teal sizes have been snapped up!
<space></space>

i think it's also a great time to stock up on under $ 100 basic clothing like shorts, tshirts, pajamas, sweaters, socks, shoes from stores like gap, urban outfitters, old navy, j.crew, banana republic etc. and some specialty boutiques have no-tax weekend sale re-pricing everything to under $ 100, to lure more shoppers on this 3-day event. it will be a crazy weekend, so i better start early friday and hit the stores together with all the soccer moms out there!

indian cuisine brunch

it was a lazy sunday morning but ben and i managed to get out of bed and decided to skip breakfast and just head out for a late brunch at indika restaurant off of westheimer street. the last time we visited this exotic indian restaurant was from their previous home tucked further away at memorial drive. that location still attracted culinary fans despite the distance but rave reviews (including gourmet magazine) had led loyal foodies to frequent the place.

since their move to this closer-to-downtown location, the resto has molded into a colorful, vibrant space. with it's high ceiling and open design, the atmosphere has stirred a modern yet ethnic vibe. for our orders, ben got the grilled halibut with curry, pilaf and peanut chutney. he stated that his fish tasted "fine" - unsure of what he meant, i took a dive with my fork and tried his fish. it was actually excellent. the halibut did not have a fish-y taste to it and it was fresh and the sauce infused well with both the fish and pilaf. i tried the chicken tandoori chaat salad with naan bread, which i found very tasty and spicy for my taste. i love the combination of cool sour cream and the hot spiciness of this dish. enough of my amateur review. the food fare did not fail, as always.

servers were dressed in all black, which i found a bit hair-salon-uniform copy but the service was not bad and they have an excellent cheerful valet that you can trust. that deserves a notice since ben is particular with parking issues. all in all, with varied new restaurant trips we've had in the past weeks, this brunch deserved a little mention here since we've been impressed before and still do with it's new location.
